Our April meeting will feature Marie Panlener, teaching us a little about portraiture.
She’ll start with a short PowerPoint about portraiture drawing, and then have people sit across from each other with tables in a square or U shape to draw each other with a short time limit. Then, one row would move so it's a bit like speed dating with portraits. No sharing would be required to avoid unwanted critique. It develops a quick sense of catching the line of someone's features.
Marie Panlener, a retired corporate commercial artist, has had a diverse career spanning print design, web design, video design and coordination. Currently, she actively contributes to the art community by serving on the boards of two art groups and designing and editing the monthly newsletter for the Minnesota Artists Association. Her past achievements include serving as the past president and chair of the members’ exhibition for the NorthStar Watermedia Association.
Marie has also created an educational series of KeyNote presentations titled, “Famous Artists You’ve Probably Never Heard Of.”
In her recent artistic journey, Marie has transitioned from watercolor to acrylic ink and acrylic high-flow paint, experimenting with various other mark-making tools.
